"Replay" is the debut EP of South Korean boy group Shinee, released on May 22, 2008 from their label company, SM Entertainment. The EP was debuted at #10 on the Korean music charts and peaked at #8, selling 17,957 copies in the first half of 2008. The track "Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)" were used as the promotional single. The dance for the PV of Replay was choreographed by Rino Nakasone Razalan.

2nd Mini Album: Romeo

"Romeo" is the second EP of South Korean boy group Shinee, released on May 21, 2009 in South Korea. The track "Juliette" were used as the promotional single, an instrumental remake of Corbin Bleu's "Deal with It". It was later announced that their comeback was going to be delayed due to Onew damaging his teeth and the release of the mini-album was pushed back to May 25, 2009. The EP was released in Japan on July 29, 2009, with an alternative cover and a bonus DVD featuring the music video for "Juliette". The release peaked at #39 on the weekly Oricon chart, charting for three weeks.

The SHINee World is SHINee's first Korean album. It was released in two editions (A, B) with different covers and booklet pictures, though the same tracklist. The album includes an unplugged version of "In my room", previously released on SHINee's debut mini-album Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay). "Sanso Gateun Neo (Love Like Oxygen)", chosen as the first song to promote the album, is a cover of the Danish singer Martin Hoberg Hedegaard's song "Show the World". The song "Hyeya (Y Si Fuera Ella)" is a cover of the Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz's song of the same name only sung by Jong Hyun. The lyrics for "Sarangui Gil (Love's Way)" and "Keunyeoga Heheojyeodda (One for Me)" were written by the famous K-R&B singer, Wheesung.

The album was re-released a month after it's original release under the title Amigo (..) with three new songs and a remix. The title, meaning "Friend" in Spanish, is an acronym of the Korean phrase "Areumdaun Minyeorueljoahamyeon Gosaenghanda" (아름다운 미녀를 좋아하면 고생한다; Heart Aches When You Fall In Love With a Beauty).
Amigo was released in Japan in October 2009 in two editions, CD+DVD including PVs and bonus footage, and CD only, with the inclusion of three instrumental songs. The original tracklist for this release is listed in Japanese along with English translations. It reached #47 on Oricon charts, and charted for 2 weeks.

"2009, Year of Us" is the third EP of South Korean boy group Shinee, released on October 19, 2009 in South Korea, with a physical release on October 22. The tracks "Ring Ding Dong" and "Jo Jo" were used as the promotional singles. The EP charted at a peak of #4 on the Bugs chart for the week of October 15–21, 2009 (week 4).

The EP was released in Japan on January 20, 2010, with an alternative cover and a bonus DVD featuring the music video and teaser for "Ring Ding Dong". The release peaked at #40 on the weekly Oricon chart, charting for three weeks.
The EP features Onew's first solo song, "Naega Saranghaetdeon Ireum" ("The Name I Loved"). Luna of f(x) also makes an appearance on track 4, "Get Down".

Within hours of the album's release, it topped various physical and digital sales charts in South Korea. The songs on the album "were more carefully selected than ever", and the album itself is said to "[give] listeners a great chance to experience the diverse musical characters and more mature vocal skills of SHINee members". Member Onew made his debut as a lyricist on track 9, "Your Name", while Jonghyun contributed lyrics for the second time (after writings lyrics for "Juliette"). Track 7 was co-written by all of the members. "Love Still Goes On" is viewed as "kind of a sequel" to "Love Should Go On", from the group's debut mini-album "Replay".

Minho wrote the raps to "Up & Down", "Obsession", "Your Name", and co-wrote the songs "WOWOWOW" with JQ and "Shout Out" with the fellow members and MISFIT. In the repackaged album "Hello", he wrote the rap for the title track "Hello", and co-wrote the raps for "One" and "Get It".

On August 5, 2010, "Lucifer" totaled over 124,961 copies in album sales in South Korea.
Shinee released a repackaged album of Lucifer called Hello October 1, 2010. Their comeback on KBS music was on the same day. The repackaged album Hello sold 63,118 copies in 2010 according to the Korean sales chart Gaon.
On November 26, 2010, the track "Obsession" was announced as the theme song for the film, The Warrior's Way.

4th Mini Album: Sherlock

"Sherlock" is the fourth EP of South Korean boy group Shinee. The physical CD was released on March 21, 2012 in South Korea, but the album was made available online worldwide on March 19, 2012. According to statistics released by Gaon, Shinee’s fourth mini-album Sherlock sold 135,370 copies in the month of March, setting the record for most album sales in March 2012. The title song "Sherlock (Clue + Note)" topped the weekly download chart for 5 weeks and digital chart, various music charts as well. On March 27, 2012, Sherlock placed 10th on the Billboard Weekly Heatseekers Albums and 5th on the Billboard Weekly World Albums charts respectively. At the end of the year, Sherlock places 4th on Hanteo's Top 50 Chart for 2012.

The album consists of seven songs. The lead single and title song "Sherlock (Clue + Note)" is a hybrid remix; the two songs that were remixed for "Sherlock (Clue + Note)" are "Clue" and "Note". The dance in the "Sherlock" music video was choreographed by Tony Testa, who previously worked for Kylie Minogue.
The lyrics to "Honesty" are written by Jonghyun and Minho, to give thanks to their fans. The lyrics to "Alarm Clock" are written by Jonghyun and Minho, about wishing to wake up from a nightmare of past break-up. The album also includes "Stranger", the main theme song for Strangers6, a Korea-China-Japan joint drama scheduled to be aired in Korea, composed by Korean songwriter Kenzie.The song was first released in Japanese, as a bonus track of their debut Japanese album The First.

3rd Album (1st Part): Dream Girl - The Misconceptions of You

Shinee announced on February 5, 2013 that they would be returning with a third full-length album, amidst rumors of return. They revealed that the album would be released on February 19, 2013 on iTunes and domestic music sites and the title track would be called "Dream Girl". With the release of their third group teaser photo on February 11, Shinee revealed that the title song "Dream Girl" was produced by Shin Hyuk and his team Joombas Music Factory and described the song as "an acid electro funk song".

On February 14, Shinee held the event "Melon Premiere SHINee Music Spoiler" where they revealed six out of the nine songs on the album to 100 music reviewers. They announced that not only were they releasing a third album, but that it would be split into two versions.

The second part called Why So Serious? – The Misconceptions of Me was released in April. They revealed three songs off the second album. Shinee also revealed the choreography for the title song “Dream Girl“, which was choreographed by Tony Testa, who previously worked with Shinee on Sherlock. The making of the music video was also shown which showed the members jumping on trampolines and using running machines. Member Onew stated on the making of the two albums, “It’s our first full album that we’re releasing in a while, so we worked really hard. Minho and Key worked on the rapping, Jonghyun worked on the lyrics, and Taemin worked on the choreography." Taemin described the album as one where each member’s individuality shines through their voices, “We know each other best so a lot of our opinions went into this album." Jonghyun in conjunction said, “Taemin’s delivery of the lyrics is good. Minho’s falsetto is really nice these days. Key is good at English. We know each other’s strengths so we split the parts up according to who can shine on what. We had fun working on the album.”

This album is about "my misconception of you", "the misconception of the world wrapped around me", and "the misconception of reality". The lyrics can be interpreted as the dreams, ideals, and visions of the world through Shinee's eyes. It showcases the original Shinee-esque side which everyone is familiar with.

In a video interview with Billboard, Shinee said the song titles to Why So Serious? – The Misconceptions of Me were revealed in this album's opening track, "Spoiler.

3rd Album (2nd Part): Why So Serious? - The Misconceptions of Me

On February 14, Shinee held the event "Melon Premiere Shinee Music Spoiler" where they revealed three songs off the second album through a medley, which had a darker vibe. They also sang two of them, "Can't Leave" and "It's You". They announced that not only were they releasing a third album, but that it would be split into two versions. The first part would be released physically on the 20th February, titled Dream Girl – The Misconceptions of You, and the second part called Dream Girl – The Misconceptions of Me would release in April. Jonghyun said “Dream Girl – The Misconceptions of Me will show our world views. It will have deep and rough sound.

"Spoiler" will be a song connecting the two chapters. Member Onew stated on the making of the two albums, "It’s our first full album that we’re releasing in a while, so we worked really hard. Minho and Key worked on the rapping, Jonghyun worked on the lyrics, and Taemin worked on the choreography." Taemin described the album as one where each member's individuality shines through their voices, “We know each other best so a lot of our opinions went into this album." Director Lee Sungsoo from SM Entertainment's production department said that this album is about "the misconception of me (Shinee)," "the dreams I slowly wanted for myself" and "the misconception of ideals." It evokes the gap between Shinee's reality and dreams and has an overall deep and dark sound, completely opposite of the preceding album."  At the event Director Lee also said that there are hidden keywords that connect the songs in the two albums and, "We included a fun point where you can search for keywords and put them together to create several interpretations."  Jonghyun also said at the event that "Spoiler" will be a song connecting the two albums," and in a video interview with Billboard, Shinee said the song titles to Dream Girl – The Misconceptions of Me were revealed in Dream Girl's opening track, "Spoiler."

On April 17, 2013 SME announced that the specific date for the album's release would be April 29 and revealed a teaser picture. They also unfortunately revealed that member Jonghyun would not be promoting in the beginning of the album promotion due to his car accident, stating "Jonghyun was discharged from the hospital last weekend, and until he is fully healed, he’ll be focusing on treatments."

5th Mini Album: Everybody

On September 30, SM Entertainment announced that Shinee will release a new mini album titled "Everybody" on October 14. On the same day Taemin's was the first teaser picture revealed through the SM Entertainment official Twitter, Facebook, and Weibo. SM also revealed Shinee's first music show stage with new title track "Everybody" is scheduled for October 10 on the stage of M! Countdown. On October 1, 2013 SM Entertainment revealed Onew's teaser picture. On October 2, 2013 SM Entertainment revealed in a press conference that Shinee will perform the title track "Everybody" for the first time during "SHINee COMEBACK SPECIAL" in the 2013 Gangnam Hallyu Festival. On October 2, 2013 SM Entertainment revealed Key's teaser picture and on October 3, Jonghyun's and Minho's teaser pictures were revealed. The outfits that Shinee are sporting in their mini album jacket are from America's representative designer brand Thom Browne's 2014 S/S Collection. SM Entertainment also revealed that Shinee's comeback special will be broadcast on YouTube.

On October 4, 2013 SM Entertainment released a lyric video of a new song, "Symptoms." The lyrics of the song are written by Jonghyun himself. Also, the music was composed by The Underdogs, who have previously worked on SHINee's "Juliette," "Spoiler," and "Selene 6.23". On October 5, the highlight medley of seven songs in Shinee's new mini-album "Everybody" was released through SMTown's YouTube channel, Facebook page, and SHINee's Official LINE. On October 8, Shinee's "Everybody" music video teaser was released through their official social networking accounts, including YouTube, Facebook, Line, and Kakaotalk. SM Entertainment revealed that "Everybody" was choreographed by Tony Testa, who has previously worked with Shinee on their past hit title tracks, "Sherlock" and "Dream Girl". SM Entertainment performance director Hwang Sanghoon (also known as Greg) also participated in planning the choreography. The music video for their 5th mini album's title song "Everybody" was released on October 10. On December 20, Shinee released a music video for "Colorful" to thank their fans for their long continuous support. It includes video clips of the members’ 2013 promotional activities.
